Everyone has heard the term mamas boy, and you probably know one. The type of person who maybe never left home, whose mom still does their laundry, feeds them and dotes on them. It can be viewed as a negative to most people nowadays, but this mother-son connection has essentially lasted most of their lifetimes. This 98-year-old mother moved into a retirement home with her 80-year-old son, proving that a mother’s love knows no ends.
Tom Keating isn’t ashamed of his title, he’s proud of it. Tom appreciates everything that his mother has done for him over the past 80 years, and continues to do for him. However, Tom decided that he needed a little extra help in his old age so he moved himself into Moss View, a nursing home.
Now his mom, Ada, was a nurse and she frequently stopped in to visit her son to spend time with him and care for him, but that wasn’t enough for the pair, and they missed each other a lot. The two have always been close, and Tom has even spent most of his life living with her since he never married. Now the mother-son pair spend nearly all of their time together, Ada gets him up in the morning and kisses him goodnight each evening. Whenever Ada isn’t around, Tom will wander around looking for her, waiting until her hair appointment is over so they can be together again.

The staff of Moss View say that it is rare to have a mother and son at the same nursing home facility and in fact, it’s something they have never seen before. Ada and Tom receive great care from the facility, but they also care for each other, and being in the same place is good for the both of them. The rest of their family love the arrangement as well, they all know the positive impact they have on each other’s lives that makes their quality of life that much higher in their old age.
As Ada says, you never stop being a mother. And Tom knows that too. He loves having his mom around and appreciates everything she does for him, and Ada loves being close to her son just as much as he loves being near her. You couldn’t find a stronger bond between two people than that of mother and son, and Ada and Tom are just the two to prove it.
