Life is full of coincidences. Many of which can’t be explained.
For example, five women who happen to be close friends all had their children within two weeks of one another.
And they are all girls!
Aurora, Olive, Haven, Lyla, and Aubrey are destined to be best friends. At least, that’s what their mothers hope. So every year, they have an annual photoshoot of all five of them.
Each year they come up with a theme. This year’s theme was the 60s.
Someone cue the flower headbands and bell-bottoms!
In the past, themes included princesses, Christmas pajamas, and sequins.
Alex Bolen is the mother of Haven. Bolen also happens to be a photographer who runs her own photography business in Missouri called Shutter Darling Photography, LLC.
The idea of holding an annual photoshoot sounded like a no-brainer.
The girls held their first photoshoot when they were just 3 months old. They are now 3-years-old.
How did these five women come into one another’s lives?
Bolen told Good Morning America that she grew up with a couple of them.
“…one or two were clients turned friends,” she said.
All five girls were born in 2016 between February 27 and March 13. Two of the girls, Haven and Olive share the same birthday on March 2.
Thus far, the girls have had 6 total photography sessions together. They have held sessions when they were 3, 6, and 9 months old. As well as 1 and 2-years-old.
The moms are most excited that their daughters will have lifelong friends.
Jamie Page, Olive’s mom, told GMA:
“Not only has it given my daughter four best friends … it’s given me four amazing mom friends.”
Sami Gigax, Aubrey’s mom, agrees.
“Not only does Aubrey get to strut her stuff for the camera … but she’s made lifelong friends out of this.”
Bolen shared that the girls had an amazing time during this year’s 60s-themed shoot.
“We played music and had a lot of props! They were having a ton of fun!”
She continued that the girls always have a great time together regardless of what environment they are in.
True friends always do!
No 60s-themed photoshoot would be complete without an old-school Volkswagon to complete the set.
“I actually reached out on Facebook looking for a VW bus, and when I found one, I knew we had to run with that idea!”
To complete the theme, one of the moms made their daughter’s shirts with various 60-themed slogans on them such as “tree hugger,” “wildflower,” “and “free spirit.”
Currently, the moms are adjusting to all the attention their daughters are receiving. While it may feel overwhelming, they realize that it is all in good fun.
Bolen tells PEOPLE.com:
“They love it!! It’s just such a neat feeling to see these huge online platforms wanting to share it. It’s so humbling! The moms keep saying ‘our babies are famous!'”
Bolen has made headlines before for her “rainbow-themed” photoshoot of 6 mothers who lost their babies.
The theme was in reference to rainbows coming after the rain.
The term “rainbow babies” is used for a baby born to a mother who has lost a child before due to miscarriage, stillborn, or neonatal birth.
