Grandpa Sends Parents Funny Texts While Babysitting
Grandpa isn’t very tech savvy, but he really pulled this off.

The main reason kids get away with lots of food, toys, loving, and mayhem are grandparents.

They no longer care about the disciplining aspect. All they want to do is shower their grandchildren with love. Grandparents are the best.

Grandparents make the best babysitters when mom and dad need time out.

So when Stephanie Waterhouse and her husband decided to have a trip out of town, they entrusted their son Ty to his “Pawpaw”. Who better to watch over a baby boy than his grandpa?

Grandpa then decided to have a little fun with his grandson. Using his phone, Grandpa took pictures with hilarious notes and sent them to Stephanie. Talk about a little distraction on vacation!

Hi mom and dad – Everything is alright here!

Little Ty is eight months old. The Waterhouses are a military family and when mom and dad thought about going on a trip, Stephanie asked her father David if he could watch over Ty. Of course Grandpa David said yes!

Pawpaw happily flew up from Dallas, Texas to Fort Knox in Kentucky just to be with his grandson. It must have been the best trip of his life. David must have planned this out while on the plane because he is more “low-tech” and still uses a flip phone that doesn’t connect to the internet.

Who needs modern phones when you have a little creativity?

All grandpa had to do was put Ty down and add a printed note next to him depicting what just happened, and… Presto! Memes by Pawpaw!

It is rather sweet knowing this is mom and dad’s first vacation together after having Ty. This is grandpa’s way of updating mom that he and Ty are doing just fine.

Grandpa is a good influence too!

Stephanie told GMA.

“Memes by Pawpaw surprised us in that my dad had thought this out before he even flew up to Kentucky. He printed the notes at home because he knew he wouldn’t be able to figure out how to print them at our house. But once he started sending them, it doesn’t surprise us because he’s very funny like that.”

To think Pawpaw doesn’t even know what a meme is.

He doesn’t have a Facebook account either. Stephanie says her dad is actually proud of his flip phone and refuses to get a new one. Once, Stephanie asked for a certain recipe and instead of just copying the URL, her dad went ahead and printed out copies of different recipes, scanned them, and e-mailed them to her.

That’s fine, grandpa David. As long as Ty is in good hands!

Photos began pouring in each one more hilarious than the last.

From wanting a red jeep, to a dent in the car, to meeting a girl, and wanting a tattoo! Too soon, Ty! Imagine the reactions of mom and dad as they got these photos through text.

Ty’s parents should be out enjoying the sun but Ty and Pawpaw are making them think! Who needs technology to have a little fun? All it takes is some creativity and a loving grandparent.

We would love to meet Godfather Danny too.

Grandpa is actually a retired police officer. He created the database that tracked information for the Dallas PD. The FBI took his idea and modeled their database after David’s. Not bad for a low-tech guy.

Just a little something for Ty to boast about his Pawpaw.
