Man can’t contain emotions reuniting with dog who went missing 4 years before
Mike's beloved dog Jack had been missing for several years, but he never gave up hope. Then one day a very emotional reunion took place.

Losing a pet brings a different kind of heartbreak. One minute, you have a tiny puppy or a newly adopted adult canine in your arms, and the next, you’re grieving. See, a pet isn’t just a pet.

A pet is a companion unlike no other. No hurtful words, no betrayal, no judgment – just lots and lots of love, cuddles, and incomparable loyalty.

That’s why canines have earned the title ‘man’s best friend.’ Who else will love you completely? Trust that your dog will always be there for you, no matter your life stage. They have razor-sharp instincts that help save lives and prevent disasters from happening (like their unique ability to sniff out fire hazards). They’re protective; you’ll always feel safe around them.

This is precisely why losing a dog you’ve grown to love leaves a void no one and nothing can ever fill.

But like all things, there is always room for miracles and silver linings – just like what happened to Mike Plas.

In a Facebook post, Mike shared the incredible story of being reunited with Jack, his pet dog whom he had lost four years before.

“So I got the greatest phone call I’ve ever gotten yesterday at work around 2:40 PM. An animal shelter from Winnipeg called me and asked my name and if I had a dog named Jack. So I said I lost him four years ago in Ontario. And they said, ‘Well, we got your info from his microchip, and he’s here in Winnipeg.'”

It was completely unexpected, and Mike couldn’t wait to see his beloved Jack again. After all, how many dog owners who’ve lost their pets receive phone calls years later telling them their dog is alive and waiting?

“After the phone call, I ended up going home. Waiting for Kenzi to come home; and we left that evening and stayed in Ignace. The next day, we finished the drive to Winnipeg, and me, Kenzi, my sister, and husband went to the shelter and told them who I was.”

From constantly wondering if he would ever see Jack again to being mere seconds away from hugging the dog again, Mike was filled with excitement.

“I showed them a picture of me and Jack, and they brought him out and instantly felt like my life was back to normal. Life without him has never been the same, and the feeling of having Jacko back is unexplainable. Never, EVER lose hope. I didn’t, and after four years apart in different provinces, we are together again.”

Mike was beyond grateful to the folks who got in touch with him and cared for Jack before he arrived. Jack was in great shape, thanks to them, and they were finally together again.

“Thank you for the work you guys did to find me. Cannot express the amount of joy you have given back to me, Jeremy Browne, and Centennial Animal Hospital, Winnipeg, Manitoba.”
