Fair warning: this will make you want to quit your job and go work in a panda sanctuary.

Pandas are some of the most adorable animals on the planet. Their fluffy round bodies, black and white patterning, and cuddly nature make them so endearing to people.

They are also China’s national animal, and a national treasure!

And while they hold a level of distinction within the animal kingdom, it turns out they are actually just super silly big babies.

Chengdu is a region of central China, in the Sichuan province (if you love spicy food), and is home to the Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding.

Their mission is to prevent pandas from becoming extinct.

Previously they were classified as endangered, but recently they have finally bumped back up to “vulnerable”.

Which is amazing news for pandas! But they still need dedicated workers who help run the Panda Breeding facility near Chengdu.

This nanny is a panda keeper at the Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding.

Her job is probably one of the best in the world.

She gets to hang out with the pandas and help keep their enclosure clean and tidy. But the silly pandas make the job a bit of a nuisance, if you can believe it.

Not on purpose… they just want to help!

Here we can see Panda Meng Lan, causing mischief and not taking no for an answer when this nanny tries to do her job on her own.

The nanny carries the panda over to another area of the enclosure so she can get to work… but Panda Meng Lan isn’t getting the message.

She’s quick to run back to the nanny while she’s raking leaves.

The nanny tries to keep this naughty panda from interfering, but she just wants to play!

What animal doesn’t love a pile of leaves?

The nanny moves her little panda friend away again so she can get back to work.

And just like an easily distracted baby, the panda finds herself climbing up a tree for a bit of fun.

It doesn’t last long.

She’s back down the trunk of the tree and chasing up her nanny again, taking her working tools and basically screaming “look at meeeee!”

As the nanny continues with her work, the panda continues to misbehave.

She doesn’t want the leaves in the basket. Give them back! Pick me up again! Give me loveeeee.

I relate to this panda heavily.

The nanny tries bring her playful furry friend over to a further part of the enclosure where she could play with her other panda friends.

Meng Lan clumsily tumbles down the wooden play area to run back to her nanny friend.

She runs back to the nanny, who surely by this point has to know she’s never getting rid of her furry friend.

As she’s finishing up with her raking, Meng Lan is hanging out by the door and needs to be moved yet again.

This is what I mean about the nanny having the best job.

I know it must be somewhat annoying to have someone interrupting your work all day but… I would literally do this for free.

Eventually she finishes her work and leaves the enclosure, but Meng Lan is uncontrollable and has done whatever she can to have her fun while her nanny was visiting.

We do not deserve pandas! The work that the Chengdu Research Base is doing is so important to keeping these gentle giants thriving.
