Now that we’ve made it to the holiday season, it’s time to bask in the pleasant songs and hymns we’ve come to love and appreciate over time.

The melodies of old, timeless classics like “The Nutcracker” and “Jingle Bells” still resonate in our minds of lovely times spent with friends and family. Without a doubt, there’s no denying that music plays a powerful role in unifying us over the holidays.

Every year we get new Christmas songs to usher in the festivities that are to come. This time, the group Pentatonix releases their beautiful rendition of “Amazing Grace,” which immediately went viral after a few days.

Some may be questioning the group’s decision to cover that specific song since it really isn’t technically part of the typical Christmas discography.

Well, the group members of Pentatonix seemed to think it was the right call.

Pentatonix is a three-time Grammy Award-winning and multi-platinum selling group comprised of Scott Hoying, Mitch Grassi, Kirstin Maldonado, Kevin Olusola, and Matt Sallee. The group formed in 2011 during NBC’s “The Sing-Off” and later separated to focus on their independent debut releases.

Pentatonix set off for their third World Tour in 2019 with a 44-city North American run.

There seems to be a divisive opinion when it comes to what is an acceptable Christmas song.

In the U.K., British people are accustomed to listening to the songs at the top of the charts as their very own Christmas songs. In other words, there are people in Britain that consider songs like Michael Jackson’s ‘Earth Song,’ The Spice Girl’s “2 become 1”, and Rage Against the Machine’s “Killing In The Name” as Christmas songs.

Pentatonix is scheduled to release a Christmas album that includes this amazing cover.

In addition, they’ve even filmed a music video that encapsulates just how awesome their cover really is. The video begins with singer Matt Sallee looking straight into the camera while being encircled by a group of trees.

As Matt starts to lift his voice, the other singers start to follow along and give the song that notable acapella sound.

The camera then starts to pan out to the different singers as the video begins to expand.

The shots then start to include greenhouse-like structures, fountains, and even ocean vistas. The entire presentation is nothing short of breathtaking as the group really steps up their game and delivers big on one of America’s all-time classic songs.

The video concludes by going back to the first location where the singers began. Since the video first appeared on YouTube on November 5th, it went straight to becoming a viral sensation.

In less than a week, it has garnered over 1.8 million views with over 127,000 likes and 6,900 comments.

People have been commenting things like: “I’m not really a religious person, but if anything could make me believe that would be this amazing song sung by these five amazing people.” And also, “Been a fan for years but this performance, talent, vocals, is like seeing them for the first time. Unbelievable talent. You guys are AMAZING!”

Pentatonix has had their album slated to be released on November 13th.

The group has not released the album tracklist since they prefer to keep it under wraps. All we get is the title, “We Need a Little Christmas” which likely suggests the rest of the album will be Christmas themed.
