Many people still remember their first time at Blockbuster.

Whether it was the feeling of power knowing you could rent a multitude of movies, or the sweet tooth craving satisfied by a plethora of available candy, there was always something for everyone.

Recent competition with online movie companies such as Netflix and Hulu has crippled Blockbuster’s economy and as such, taken it completely out of business. For those still lamenting the loss, it’s time for you to rejoice.

The last Blockbuster still standing has been remodeled into a 90’s sleepover themed Airbnb experience!

The entire look and feel of the ’90s permeate the air like the lingering aroma from a fresh stew.

It sizzles in your nostrils and the feeling of nostalgia brings back all the classic memories of you renting that much-anticipated flick. It truly is a generational time machine for all those looking to get that quintessential Blockbuster experience.

“Whether you want to stay up until sunrise or pass out on the couch, we’ve created the perfect space complete with a pull-out couch, bean bags and pillows for you to cozy up with ‘new releases’ from the ‘90s,” it reads. “Crack open a two-liter of Pepsi before locking into a video game, charting your future in a game of MASH, or watching movie after movie. But be wary of reciting ‘Bloody Mary’ in the staff bathroom off of the break room, as you just may summon the ghost rumored to haunt the store.”

As you can see, the entire layout is reminiscent of a scene straight out of Full-House or Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. The sweet-looking blue neon lights really set the tone for a chic movie viewing experience.

This archaic machine, otherwise known as a VCR, still sits proudly in this Blockbuster for all to see.

If you’re really thinking about going retro, then the VCR is your go-to machine. Don’t let the astounding number of buttons confuse you, it only takes about 3 buttons to get the tape playing the way it should.

After your movie night, feel free to lay on this comfy sofa mattress! It’s got plenty of space for two and is retractable in order to have an efficient space.

All this and more is what awaits you. This relic of a building is now treasured by the community as the last standing Blockbuster after Alaska and Australia shut down its other outposts. The building remained open during the pandemic, but the staff assured that it was constantly being disinfected and cleaned for proper health clearance.

“I had a customer come in and she said, ‘I am so grateful that you reopened because I couldn’t flip through Netflix one more time,'” Harding said.

This Blockbuster stands as a cultural monument to all the fun Friday nights us 90’s kids got to enjoy. The seemingly infinite rows of movies, video-games, and toys still paint that same familiar picture from almost 3 decades ago.
