Kitten Persists Until Rottweiler Becomes Friend
He wasn’t sure at first, but her convincing paid off.

A man found a stray kitten on the street and decided to take her home. The Good Samaritan welcomed the little kitty to his family and named her Akula. Sounds great!

Now, there’s just one problem. He has a dog. A Rottweiler named Choko. Now of course being an animal, no one could predict how the dog would react to the new tiny stranger in the house.

Stevseven, the uploader of the video describes the situation,

“I found an abandoned kitten and decided to adopt her. This is the progress with Choko. I wonder who scares who?”

Now yes, there is an age old rivalry between cats and dogs.

Bitter enemies in cartoons and films who just cannot get along. And for the most part, it is the dog getting the upper hand on the feline rival.

Rottweilers especially, as this breed has a reputation for being aloof and without fear. They are territorial with a “wait and see” attitude when confronted with new situations or meeting new people. And probably other animals.

Akula the kitty had other ideas though.

There is no fear in the little one. The very first thing she does is to run right up to Choko to say hello.

She is bold, confident, brave, and all of those adjectives that you can think of. Even experts agree that when two animals are to meet for the first time, it is best to do it slowly. Which means keeping them separate and even swapping their blankets just so they get accustomed to each other’s scent.

Take it slowly. That’s the advice.

Well too late for that as these two went for the inevitable meet and greet immediately.

Here’s the funny part. Choko the big, muscular, tough looking dog actually jumped up, startled and cautious as he backed away from little Akula. The kitten wasn’t having it. Akula went for Choko again, determined to meet the big boy and perhaps befriend him.

Choko seemed to be impressed by the kitten’s brave act. He looked to be more accepting of Akula.

This big, tough boy wasn’t letting his guard down easily. After all, he is the Rottweiler! Who is this new creature in his territory? Not to mention it may have been his first time seeing a cat this close. The risks were there and it could have gone very wrong. But Choko is a good boy, keeping his composure, staying calm and behaved all through out.

He never once tried to take the upper hand.

What he did do was nudge her away gently a few times with his nose as he was relaxing in the kitchen. He didn’t want to be disturbed. At the end though, the mood changed. And for the better.

Akula’s persistence got Choko to realize that he would be sharing his home with this kitten from now on so the least they could do is to try and make it work. Interestingly, there seem to be smiles on both those furry faces so it wouldn’t be impossible to say that these two have actually become friends.

Akula’s courage broke the stereotype of the the classic rivalry. In the end, her courage won her a new friend in the most unlikely of creatures. And this was just the beginning. Akula and Choko have their whole lives together.
