Jackson Champagne, and 8-year-old dressed as a little vampire, was out trick-or-treating on Halloween when he came to a house with a bowl on their front porch that had run out of candy. Instead of pouting and moving on to the next house, he did something that not many kids his age would do. He reached into his own bag, pulled out 2 handfuls of candy, and filled the bowl- for the kids that come after him. Little did he know, that the couple had a Nest camera set up at their front door that caught Jackson in the generous act.

The family that lived in the house, the Hodges, posted the video to Facebook. “Caught this on our Nest Camera. This has got to give hope to everyone that there are still amazing people in this world. What a selfless act from this little guy! Kudos to his parents!! #imnotcrying.” Leslie Hodges wrote in a post. Though it was her husband that originally showed her the video “Saying you won’t believe this.” and she was shocked. “He renewed the faith that there are still some good people out there.”

The Nest cameras have become popular with young families so that they can easily see who’s at the door, if they’ve had a package delivered, or if they have an unwanted visitor- but in this case it caught something even better. In the video Jackson walks up to the porch and looks into the bowl hoping for some sweet treats, but instead he calls back to his aunt that they’re all out. Most kids in this situation would pout and move on, but not Jackson. He takes everyone by surprise and reaches into his own bag for not one, but two handfuls of candy, saying that it’s for the ones that show up after him. “Aw, that’s really nice Jackson.” we hear his aunt call back to him. “There we go.” he says confidently and throws his bag over his shoulder ready to move onto the next house.

He is always giving. He’s a very sweet, kind, and soft-spoken kid. I’ve never seen a moment where he acts out negatively toward humanity.” said Jackson’s father, Ty Champagne, i nan interview. Obviously a proud father, he asked Jackson why he did what he did, and he simply replied that it was for the others that come after him. Plain and simple. The hodges were still so shocked that they wanted to do something for Jackson to show that no good deed goes unnoticed. Shortly after the video went viral the families made plans to get together and meet up, where the Hodges gave Jackson a gift card for his kind gesture.
