There are a lot of talented singers out there. People who have the raw talent but for some reason never made it big or circumstances in life force them to do other things to make a living. Thanks to shows like The Voice, American Idol, and the Got Talent series, many aspiring singers have realized their dreams and have embarked on their own careers.

Some compete on national TV while others just get recorded by a cellphone.

That random woman working as a cashier at your local store might be the next big hit and you would never know. Unless of course she decides to sing at work. At the local Walmart in Logan, West Virginia, 21 year old Kayla Slone blew the roof off with her voice.

She is an amazing country vocalist. Her passion for singing began as a young girl and Kayla dreamed of performing at Nashville’s Grand Ole Opry but like many others never got the chance to do so.

Slone was 15 when she made a homemade album with her brother.

Lucky day for shoppers as Kayla decided to sing a Dolly Parton classic from 1971 called “Coat of many colors”. A shopper pulled out her phone to record Slone as she went with her impromptu performance.

Standing behind the counter wearing her company id, she gets in her zone and lets the lyrics flow from her mouth.

“Although we had no money, I was rich as I could be in my coat of many colors my momma made for me.”

Dolly Parton would be very proud.

It was a simple, no frills performance. No planning or preparations, no microphone. Just Kayla and her pure talent. And it was so good the video immediately went viral.

A viewer said,

“This girl needs to make it! She has a natural singing voice and it’s perfect. I would buy her CD if she got the chance to put some out there!”

Slone is married to a coal miner and this West Virginia native has fans flocking to the store just to hear her sing.

Kayla could probably charge admission. People request for her to sing and her fame grew that even ABC News went to her to conduct an interview.

She told them how surprised she was with her sudden fame and shared with them her dreams of singing at the Grand Ole Opry. Perfect timing as some kind folks from the Opry saw the interview and decided to make her dreams come true!

Opry Vice president and General Manager, Pete Fisher happily delivered the news.

He told ABC News,

“Country music at its best is about real people singing real stories about real life… But it starts with a passion and we’re happy to give her a stage.”

Kayla worked her shift the night before her performance.

She drove with her husband to Nashville and as she was preparing, she got a call from Loretta Lynn who wished her well. Loretta told Kayla that she loved Slone and that she would be watching.

Kayla says talking to Loretta helped a lot. And what an incredible performance!

Kayla sang “Coal Miner’s Daughter” and it was fantastic.

Slone is a classic example of someone who kept doing what she loved because you never know who’s watching. It might just be your time to shine.
