Lisa is an amazing photographer who uses a DIY box, macro lense, and action camera to get gorgeous shots of birds in her hard. She is a German native living life in Michigan who loves birds, cats, and everything nature and weird! She’s graced the internet with these shots on her Instagram, and more. Check out some of her best shots in this slide!
1) Labor Day Surprise
“I noticed fewer Oriole activity from yesterday on,” Lisa said on Labor Day. “Which is a sure sign that they have started to migrate. The wasps and hornets are begun to find the jelly too, so maybe it is a good thing to not have it out much longer. Nicely enough though, more birds are making a comeback to the camera that I haven’t seen much all summer, like these two woodpeckers.”
2) What’s That, Daddy?
“It is funny to still see very young birds popping up right now. The young Finch is learning from Dad while the Blue Jay is following the group and boldly claiming the food bowl for himself while still begging.”
3) Wood You Mind?
This Red-Bellied Woodpecker gave us an amazing shot! He stared right at the camera looking like a gangsta! What a cool guy he is! Who wouldn’t want to be his friend?

4) He Da Boss
Here’s the famous Blue Jay that knows he’s the boss around these parts. But that doesn’t stop the boss from asking for more food. Isn’t he the prettiest little guy you’ve veer seen? The whole world is in his eyes.
5) Summertime Blues
“Now that summer comes to an end,” Lisa says. “The bird variety seen at the feeders is beginning to change too. The smaller all year residents are slowly making a showing again. Like this Nuthatch man.”
6) Excuse Me, Pardon Me
These two Doves are hilarious. They move every which way like a game of Tetris or Twister in order to get what they want. Imagine sitting on a bird feeder this size with your buddy.
7) Wait, It’s Not The Ice Age?
Now that’s a scary bird, if that is what he calls himself. Lisa thinks he looks more like a dinosaur and we agree whole-heartedly. If you’ve ver wondered what a pterodactyl looked like, this is it.
8) Nancy, Nancy, Nancy
This is, “Nancy, the momma dragon, and Sid, her loyal partner, parents of a brood of 11 new Bluebirds this season.” What’s funny about bluebirds, as Lisa mentions, is that they get scraggly looking by the end of summer. How relatable as a parent!
9) You Got Something to Say?
Go ahead, take all you want, all you need, we don’t mind. This stank eye is really getting to us. He requires submission and he’s going to get it. Who knew birds could look so intimidating?
10) Shield Your Eyes, Children
The post of these bird backs actually got flagged for adult content. Now that’s a puzzling one indeed. They are absolutely beautiful, but adult content? You just never know about the internet.
11) Maybe It’s Maybelline
A “patchwork Grack”. These older birds “brown baby plumage gives way to the gorgeous deep bluesd and purples.” Wow! What a bird that just gets prettier with age. Know anyone like that?
12) Are You Jelly?
Remember the first time you had jelly? These birds do! “Two jar purchases later,” Lisa says. “And the jelly crew is still going strong. Others are a bit skeptical of the glibbery stuff.”
13) All the Single Birdies
Why hello there! Fancy meeting you here. Are you single? Taken? Female? It’s all good. This puffy-chest player needs to know who was here first. It’s up to her if he stays for dinner.
14) Where I Belooong!
“Country rooooads! Take me home!” You can just hear this guy singing his birdie lungs off. Though by the way it looks, he doesn’t exactly “sing like a bird” as they would say. Sorry, champ.
15) Mid-Life Crisis
Where am I in life? What do I want? I don’t even have a mate. All I do is eat at this feeder all day long, selling my body. I mean, it’s a beautiful body and deserves to be looked at…but still. I’m always hungry!
16) Here’s Lookin’ At Ya
We thought the bigger black birds were scary. Turns out it’s even more intimidating when it’s a cute little gold guy giving us that all-knowing eye.
17) First Rule of Fight Club
It’s not what it looks like. We promise it’s just mullberries that are staining her feathers. Ignore the look in her eye and just nod and smile. Not because that isn’t berries in her feathers though.
18) Sat on my Window
Adorable young bluebirds, taking the best shot possible. This could be an album cover. In fact, we should start a petition to get this put as the album cover for one of today’s most popular bands.
19) Rain or Shine
This Cardinal was the first to make it to the bowl after the rain. Now he’s a real champ and quite the ladyies man. Look at the way he looks at the camera, begging the “chicks” to dine with him.
20) Get a Load of These Babies
What a wing you have! I think he’s showing off, but do we really mind? After all, it’s a gorgeous wing. Or maybe he isn’t showing off. Maybe he’s just camera shy and is trying to hide his face.
21) This is My Turf
Playing a game or fighting? We don’t know. What we do know is that these birds are adorable and will do anything for the last word. Not to mention the last bid of jelly.
22) Smells Like Teen Spirit
What a pretty teen bluebird we have here. Out exploring the world and trying to make a life of his own. He looks so stoic posing for the camera, as if he has the whole world on his shoulders.
23) I’ll Caw-Caw You Right to Next Week
Ain’t no one gonna mess with this bird! Grr…this is defintiely her food and hers alone. Even the Hawks, Buzzards, and Crows know not to go near her. But we think she’s adorable!
24) We Know Too Much
Is it just me or does this give “Secret of Nimh” vibes? This bird is giving us the crazy eye like he can see right into our souls. For all we know, he can. So it’s best not to stare for too long.
25) I’m a Grown-Up
Woah! What nice…feathers…you have there. He’s just a friendly young Dove trying so hard to be a big boy like the adult Doves. Isn’t he just so precious?
26) Mom Says I’m Handsome
Don’t worry, little Blue Jay, they’ll be back soon. This is all part of the process, there’s nothing wrong with you. He may look like an Ostrich or an Emu, but I assure you, this is a molting Blue Jay.
27) The Cardinal Rule
Is this no the “most handsomest” guy you’ve ever laid eyes on? The worst part is that he knows it too. Are all Cardinals like this or is this just a little baddie? We love him!
28) Brave Little Finch
This finch looks like he’s ready for anything. Such a determined little fellow! If only we had have the courage that he had, we’d do the most impossible things.
29) Tweedly Deedly Deet
What a sweet little hummingbird, presumed to be a molting female. We still think she’s a beaut! Off to find herself a midday snack. We know that she’ll achieve her dreams.
30) The Morning Sun
This Hummingbird is about as beautiful as they come, basking in the morning light just like a bird model. If Nat Geo doesn’t hire him on the spot, they’re crazy because this bird needs a contract.
