But Eddie wasn’t always planning on becoming a famous YouTuber. He and his granny’s unintentional rise to online fame is actually a wild story.

Eddie always wanted to be a writer. He graduated from Temple University in 2010 and began working for Philly’s B101.1 radio station – he played the part of their giant bee mascot, Buzzbee.

In 2018, he decided to leave it all behind and concentrate on what he really wanted to do: write a memoir.

He got an Uber driver gig to make ends meet while he focused on his writing, and something unexpected happened. He began recording the people he met on the job with a dashcam for his own safety, but quickly realized he was sitting on a comedic goldmine.

And so, the “Driver Ed” video series was born.

Eddie would often feature his closest companion “Mommom” in his videos, and he recorded himself helping her out with her errands. But his followers were so taken with the sassy little old lady’s giggle-worthy antics that Eddie began the much-loved segment “Mondays with Mommom.”

His YouTube channel became an online sensation, mainly because of his 89-year-old grandmother’s hilarious comments and one-liners.

In fact, “Mommom” has become a bit of a YouTube celebrity herself – people just can’t get enough of this adorable grandma!

“One day, for no particular reason, I uploaded what I thought was just a silly little video of Granny talking about garage sales. Turns out, I wasn’t the only one who got a kick out of Mommom. Almost half a billion views later, we’re so happy to spread a little joy and laughter to people from all over the world, and hope our videos encourage those watching to remember that the little things in life can be some of the best,” Eddie wrote on his website.

Eddie’s heartwarming videos with his grandma – whether he’s driving her to the grocery store, casino, or just having a conversation with her at the dinner table – have attracted more than 675,000 followers on TikTok!

The kindness, sincerity, and affection that Eddie shows toward his granny has captured the hearts of people all over the world.

“We have a very honest and genuine relationship,” he told The Philadelphia Inquirer. “You can see there’s nothing polite about what goes on between us.”

And “Mommom” shows Eddie affection in her own hilarious way, too.

The one-liners she shoots at her grandson include: “When it serves me, I’m old, and when it serves me, I’m young” and “Don’t you ever go home?”

“He is the most funniest man on earth,” she said to The Philadelphia Inquirer. Then, turning to Eddie: “Sometimes you do get on my nerves, but I love you just the same.”

One of the most enduring videos featuring “Mommom” is one of Eddie Doyle’s latest offerings, a YouTube short titled: “Granny Baffled by my Magic”.

In just three days, it’s already received over 5,000 views.
