Callie is a Pit Bull/ Catahoula mix that has been through a lot in her life. She was found tied to a fence in 2012 after her family abandoned her. She was only three months old.

Callie didn’t have a great home in those formative months and needed a lot of work to learn to trust people. The family that found her happened to have a baby the exact same age as her. In order for her to stay around, she would have to learn to live with a newborn!

Callie had been alone for days and was tired and hungry. With her new family bringing her in, she was introduced to baby Ian while they got things ready.

In the video, Ian’s parents discuss trying to make Callie more at home, and they put her down next to the other resident baby all decked out in her new collar and leash.

Imagine how confused little Callie must be! She is near this strange pink thing and doesn’t know what to do.

Ian is fast asleep in his cute dinosaur blanket, so he isn’t disrupting the moment. They’re just looking to see what Callie will do. And it appears she likes the baby very much.

At first, she just watches him – until she realizes how sleepy she is!

Something about the baby made Callie feel safe enough to droop her head and start to sleep. The poor thing.

After fighting off a nap, she gives Ian a sniff and snuggles in a bit closer to his warm body.

Then we see those sweet puppy dog eyes look at dad, almost as if to make sure she’s allowed to be doing what she’s doing. After all, there’s a good chance no one has ever shown her much affection before.

Callie seems to understand that she is safe here. She definitely is trying to stay alert, but seems to be losing the battle with sleep!

A couple of times it appears she might just crash land on her side and fall into a deep, restorative sleep. But she’s fighting it hard.

Dad asks “do you not know how to lay down, honey?” – and at the very least she seems unsure how to snuggle even though she really wants to share a blanket with Ian.

Callie finally figures it out and moves on the other side of Ian.

At that moment, Callie finally laid down. On her soft belly, she places her head in Ian’s lap – one of the cutest things ever seen.

She must understand that Ian is a pretty non-threatening individual and if he can sleep, she might as well too!

In one move, Callie melted hearts around the world.

Callie still has her eyes on dad to make sure she’s not about to get in trouble, but the tone of his voice was clearly kind and while we can’t see him he must be giving her the ok.

Callie is still watching dad to make sure she didn’t do anything wrong, but she can tell from his tone that she isn’t doing anything bad.

Within seconds, the sweet little rescue is sound asleep with her new best friend.

Of course, when dogs do cute things, everyone wants to see, so people come over, which immediately disturbs the puppy. Ian is out for the count so he knows nothing about what’s going on around him.

After a few head position switches, Callie is almost ready to make the leap to dreamland.

We just really hope everyone left her alone for a while so she could really get some rest after this!

In the end, it looks like Callie’s new home worked out smashingly for her.

Four years later and we get an update on the two! They are best friends and play all day long. Callie is living the best life she could ever imagine.
