Take a tour of this strange supermarket in Las Vegas where absolutely nothing is as it seems
It may seem normal on the surface, but a closer look reveals much more.

Art can do many things. It can inspire, move, anger you, or all 3. Sometimes, it can also just confuse you. That’s the nature of art, and it always has been.

Some people take the philosophies of abstract and parody art to new heights, like this mega project here.

Introducing Omega Mart, a supermarket that’s not really a supermarket.

Omega Mart has everything that makes a supermarket……at least, it seems to. It’s got the signs, the shelves, the aisles, and the meat section. But upon closer inspection, this seemingly everyday-looking market is hiding some eccentricities under the coat.

It’s got the signs telling you where to find certain products on the aisles.

Follow the directions and you’ll find what you’re looking for. Or rather, what you think you’re looking for.

The cereal boxes, for instance, have some pretty unusual flavors listed on the front.

They look much like a box of Trix, Froot Loops, or Frosted Flakes at first glance. But take a look at the flavors labeled. They read “screw”, “stapler”, ‘key”, and “battery”. Not exactly things I would want to put in my mouth with a bowl of milk.

And the cereal isn’t the only thing that’s bizarre.

The meat section has some pretty inked-up whole chickens on display too.

What appears to be whole chickens are covered in tattoos as they sit on the ice. Still fancy cooking them?

The drink coolers keep the theme going too. Open it to access the cold beverages, and it instead opens up to reveal a whole passageway. Where does this lead? Well, to a room full of neon lights and funky sculptures, obviously.

Omega Mart was created by the minds at Meow Wolf.

Over 300 artists and designers worked on the project, and the results speak for themselves.

A weird grocery with deceptive products isn’t all that Omega Mart has to offer. They’ve also got indoor slides for people to have a bit of fun in, and a “black portal” that takes you into more lights show rooms. Just try not to get lost.

What’s more, Omega Mart even has “lore” to it.

The clues of which can be found scattered around the store and in their online marketing.

Omega Mart isn’t going to spell the story and lore out to you. It’s gone for the minimalist storytelling route.

Pick up the clues and piece them together on your own.

A minimalist storytelling method – one where you’re asked to look at clues and come to your own conclusions – is always fun. It’s perhaps most famously used in video games like Dark Souls, Elden Ring, and Hollow Knight (and I’m sure we all know someone who’s played those games). The beloved cartoon Adventure Time also used a bit of minimalist storytelling in its world.

So if you’re up for a bizarre experience with a chance to play a bit of detective, you should visit the Omega Mart. They’re at the Area15 Complex in Las Vegas.

What other secrets and narratives are hidden in the Omega Mart? Well, they’re not gonna uncover themselves.
